Registers, recorded prices and the spread between districts, as of 2026-10-06.
California has no single ERC market: credits are usable only in the district that banked them, so the state is thirty-five separate markets with prices that differ more than a hundredfold. This report puts the public record in one place — every published district register, every recorded price — as of 2026-10-06.
17 districts publish a register, and the Exchange mirrors all of them certificate by certificate: 4,920 certificates. The largest NOx banks, in tons per year: San Joaquin Valley 5,114, Mojave Desert 2,417, Bay Area 2,082, Monterey Bay 1,101, North Coast Unified 899. The statewide map · every holder.
NOx is the most demanded offset pollutant. In the last three recorded years its price ran from $2,700 per ton (Imperial County, 2025) to $418,000 (South Coast, 2024).
| District | Year | NOx $/ton | n | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| South Coast | 2024 | $418,000 avg | 3 | District report |
| San Joaquin Valley | 2024 | $16,049 | 1 | District records |
| San Joaquin Valley | 2025 | $12,000 | 5 | District records |
| San Joaquin Valley | 2026 | $9,500 | 3 | District records |
| Imperial County | 2025 | $2,700 | 5 | District records |
Each line runs from the lowest to the highest recorded price that year; the dot is the median; the scale is logarithmic because prices span more than a hundredfold.
